1. Who we are

Fautor LLC ("Fautor", "we", "us") operates the website fautor.us and the Fautor Legal AI desktop application. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from visitors and registered users, how we use it, and your rights.

This policy applies only to data Fautor LLC collects about you (the software user). It does not apply to your clients' data — that data is processed entirely on your local machine and is never transmitted to or stored by Fautor LLC.

2. Data we collect

When you register:

Full name and work email address
Your role (paralegal, attorney, or firm owner)
Your computer's MAC address (used solely for license activation and verification)

When you visit fautor.us:

Anonymized usage data via Google Analytics 4 (pages visited, session duration, general location by country/region)
Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page) — retained for up to 30 days

We do not collect passwords, payment card numbers (payments are handled by our payment processor), or any client immigration data.

3. Cookies and tracking

Our website uses:

Google Analytics cookies — to understand aggregate usage patterns. These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies.
No third-party advertising or retargeting cookies are set on fautor.us.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

4. How we use your data

To create and manage your software license
To verify your license once every 24 hours when the desktop app is in use
To send transactional emails (trial activation, billing receipts, important product updates)
To respond to support requests
To improve the product based on aggregate usage analytics

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with anyone except as described in Section 5.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with:

Payment processors (e.g., Stripe) — to process subscription payments. They operate under their own privacy policies.
Google LLC — via Google Analytics for anonymized website analytics, and for email delivery infrastructure.
Law enforcement or regulators — only when required by applicable law or valid legal process.

6. Data retention

We retain your registration data for as long as your account is active plus 2 years thereafter, unless you request earlier deletion. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings (14 months by default).

7. Security

Registration data is stored in a secured, access-controlled database accessible only to Fautor LLC staff. We use industry-standard security measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No system is 100% secure — if you suspect unauthorized access, email us immediately at hello@fautor.us.

8. Children's privacy

The Software is intended solely for professional use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

9. California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect and how it is used; (b) request deletion of your personal information; and (c) opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, email hello@fautor.us with the subject line "CCPA Request."

10. Your rights

Regardless of your location, you may at any time:

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Opt out of non-transactional email communications

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@fautor.us. We will respond within 30 days.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
